I can sizzle like bacon, I am made with an egg,
I have plenty of backbone, but lack a good leg,
I peel layers like onions, but still remain whole,
I can be long, like a flagpole, yet fit in a hole,

What am I?

it is a snake    line 1. because of its hissing and it hatches from an egg 2. it has vertabrae and has no legs 3. they lose their skin but they grow a new one 4. they r long and straight but curl into a ball
