Jon is Lorraine's brother,
Diane married Jon,
Diane is John's sister,
Lorraine married John,
Diane and Jon had seven grandchildren,
Diane and Jon had three children.
Lorraine and John had two children,
Lorraine and John had seven grandchildren.
Ricardo, one of Diane and Jon's children, and a cousin to Lorna-jane and Frasier, did not marry or have any children.
Diane and Jon had two other children - Juan and Suzi.
Lorraine and John had 2 children - Lorna-jane and Frasier.
Lorna-Jane married Juan and had 4 children,
Frasier married Suzi and had 3 children.
Lorraine and John had twins.
Frasier and Juan were cousins.
Suzi and Lorna-Jane were cousins.
Ricardo had a sister,
Lorna-Jane had a brother,
Frazier had a sister, Suzi had 2 brothers.
For the above relationships to exist, How many were there, grandparents, parents, children, cousins and siblings in all?
There were 15 total individuals.
Grandparents=4
Diane, Jon, Lorraine, John
Parents=8
Diane+Jon
Lorraine+John
Lorna-Jane+Juan
Fraiser+Suzi
Children=12
Ricardo, Juan, Suzi
Lorna-Jane, Fraiser
and 7 nameless grandchildren
Cousin(relationships)= 18 sets(I know I know, just bear with me)
Because Diane and John were siblings here are the first set of six
Ricardo.....Lorna-Jane (Set 1)
Ricardo.....Fraiser (Set 2)
Juan........Lorna-Jane (Set 3)
Juan........Fraiser (Set 4)
Suzi........Lorna-Jane (Set 5)
Suzi........Fraiser (Set 6)
Follow me now. Lorna-Jane and Juan had 4 children
Fraiser and Suzi had 3 children.
This constitutes 7 total grandchildren. Lorna-Jane's 4 children are all cousins to Fraiser's 3 children through Lorna-Jane's and Fraiser's sibling relationship or even Juan and Suzi's sibling relationship. Therefore you have another 12 sets(4x3) of cousin relationships.
Whew!
Or if that doesn't float your boat, you could count them all individually and say that there are 12 individuals with at least one cousin relationship
Sibling(relationships)=14
P.S. There is no typo, line 10 is a part of line 9 and there clarifies that Ricardo, not Fraiser, went unmarried and consequently childless. YES, there was a whole bunch of first-cousin luvin' going on.
