This popular Japanese number puzzle has just one easy rule:
In every Row, every Column and every 3x3 sub-grid, all the numbers from 1 to 9 should appear, but only once in each row, column and sub-grid.
+------+-------+------+
| 0 0 0 | 7 0 0 | 4 0 0 |
| 0 3 0 | 0 9 0 | 0 2 0 |
| 4 0 0 | 0 0 5 | 0 0 0 |
+------+-------+------+
| 0 0 8 | 0 0 0 | 0 0 5 |
| 0 9 0 | 0 3 0 | 0 7 0 |
| 6 0 0 | 0 0 0 | 3 0 0 |
+------+-------+------+
| 0 0 0 | 4 0 0 | 0 0 6 |
| 0 7 0 | 0 2 0 | 0 9 0 |
| 0 0 5 | 0 0 8 | 0 0 0 |

Penny,
Well, I wouldn't call your program a "Loafer"... but good pun anyway.
:-) I didn't realize it was searching for all solutions.
So, you're right--it's not a real comparison unless mine does the same
thing. I think I'll change it... I'll post results if I do
(if you care--it's getting sort of academic at this point, isn't it?).
By the way, you're the only other one on this site that I've seen using
VB.net--so I always like to read your posts. Do you know if
anyone else here is using it?
Oh, and uh, "Mr. Haley" makes me feel old. Wait...at 58, I AM old! Oh well, call me "Ken" anyway. :-)
