A wire structure in the form of a cube has a resistance of one ohm in each edge. An electrical circuit is formed by connecting a one volt battery to a pair of diagonally opposed vertices of the cube. What is the current, in amperes, in the wire connecting the battery to the cube structure?
Just a guess, I would imagine that current takes the path of least resistance. From the first vertice the current can go any of three "one ohm routes" to the next vertice, from each of which the current can take two possible "two ohm routes". (Is this too technical?). I would guess that two "two ohm routes" sum up to a "one ohm route" therefore the current has a choice of three "one plus one ohm routes" from vertice to opposite vertice (ie three "two ohm routes". My guess is that three "two ohm routes" represnts 2/3 of an ohm.
I seem to recall Volts = Amps x Resistance, so Current (Amps) would be 1 Volt / 2/3 Ohms = 3/2 Amps
Answer 1.5 Amps
