I think you guys are missing an important point here:
It is a force, and it stops bread's spread.
Crust is not a force, and it doesn't stop anything, it is the location where the bread stopped spreading.
So what caused that?
Well, there's always the edge of the bread pan, or maybe the heat that changes the dough to a solid.
Also you might want to try Atbash on the word...but somehow I don't think it should be that hard. It does have something to do with the word though and not the solution, because the word has to be changed into a praising word. I think it's writing it backwards, not looking upside down.
