A rectangular sheet of paper is folded so that two diagonally opposite corners come together. The crease thus formed is as long as the longer side of the rectangle.

What is the ratio of the longer side of the rectangle to the shorter?

Ok this is probably not even close to the answer but I work better with numbers. Okay here goes: 1/4 : 1 (1 being the longer side, 1/4 being the shorter).

I thought about it for a while then got a head ache so thought it might be an easy answer since I wasn't given any numbers. I took the original numbers to be 1/2 : 1 (for every one the shorter side would be half that.) So folding it in half gives you a quarter, for every one the shorter side would be a quarter of that. If 1 = 20, then 1/4 = 5. Or something like that
