F is the whole of the 8th term, the two letters I am referring to are the ninth and tenth terms of the sequence. The 11th term is a B (and the sequence does continue on finitely afterwards).
As I have previously mentioned, the sequence does refer to Britain (as the title suggests). That is presumably why he wrote "this Yank".
I have one last clue, but only if you desperately need it.
