L.A. to Hawaii (Posted on 2005-06-17) Difficulty: 3 of 5
It is about 2244.5 nautical miles from Los Angeles, CA to Honolulu, HI. A boat starts from being at rest in Los Angeles Harbor and proceeds at 1 knot per hour to Honolulu. How long does it take?

Question knot per hour? | Comment 3 of 11 |
A knot per hour would be an acceleration, as a knot is a nautical mile per hour (NM per hour per hour).  Is that what I missed?  Then what is the top speed of this boat (do we assume infinite, at least enough to continually accelerate until we reach Honolulu and then stop on a dime.)  Or do we accelerate to top speed and decelerate when we need too.
