What does the following sequence represent?

1, 1, 3, 1, 5, 3, 7, 1, 9, 5, 11, 3, 13, 7, 15, 1, 17, 9, 19, 5, 21, 11, 23, 3, 25, 13, 27, 7, 29, 15, 31, 1.

But if this were the case, then wouldn't the 4th term be: 2 ?

In fact, wouldn't the series you defined be:
1,1,3,2,5,3,7,4,9,5,11,6,....   ?

Oh, I see:  keep dividing by 2 repeatedly until you get to an odd number.  I misunderstood at first.
