When you draw three circles of radius r such that all three are externally tangent, what is the area of the shape in the center in terms of r?

Simplify your answer.

The height of an equilateral triangle with base S is (S¡î3)/2, so the area of this particular triangle is 2r(r¡î3)/2 which simplifies to r©÷(¡î3) and since there are 3 slices each 60¨¬ (1/6 of 360), then the area subtracted is (3/6)(¥ðr©÷) or (¥ðr©÷)/2.

The answer is (r©÷(¡î3))-((¥ðr©÷)/2)
