In some cases, I guess.  I think Brian Smith thought that a veiled hint was indicated.

Can't you modify your program to do various bases?  Since the digits are 0-9, most people would assume the base is supposed to be at least 11, and since Charlie failed to get base 11 to work, maybe 16 would be the next logical choice to try. Charlie did not say he had run a program for base 11, however, so there may still be hope there.
