A circle of unit radius is completely covered by three identical squares. What is the smallest size of the squares?

I originally took the correction to mean that smaller squares could be used by modifying the positions of the squares. Actually, the original solution did not quite cover the circle, so the correction is more than a slight improvement. It's necessary in order to cover the circle.
