Omniprod Employees (Posted on 2005-10-15) Difficulty: 4 of 5

On an alien planet called Omniprod, three different species of intelligent creatures (popplers, dopplers and sipplers) work for an intergalactic corporation producing enough salt and pepper to supply the entire solar system.
Each creature produces either salt or pepper. The tasks required in the salt & pepper factory consist of three main jobs, so the workers are either, crimpers, winklers or crankers.
Working hours are long, so the workers are housed in dormitories inside the factory. The names of the dormitories are Podsum, Swodlin and Bishdon.
Given the following information about the members of workgroup 47E, you should be able to determine:
1.) The number of workers in the group.
2.) Each members unique combination of details i.e. species, job, dormitory and what they produce.

1.) All of the Sipplers (there is more than 1) are crankers.

2.) The winklers include 1 poppler, 1 salt producer and 1 swodlin member, none of which are the same creature.

3.) The popplers include 1 cranker, 1 salt producer and 1 member of podsum, none of which are the same creature.

4.) Amongst the crankers, 1 is a poppler, 2 produce salt and 2 are in swodlin (these two happen to be of the same species).

5.) 1 Sippler, 2 winklers and 2 salt producers are in the Podsum dormitory.

6.) Last week a worker requested that he be given another job because he was mistakenly called for shift twice because the supervisor was lacking information about the species on one occasion and about the dormitory on another occasion.

7.) Bishdon dormitory contains 2 salt producers

8.) There are 4 pepper producers

I finally had to settle for your answer.  However, I assumed, since they provided all the needs for the solar system, that both salt and pepper would need to have each of the trades to complete production of the products.  So, I kept trying to force the fourth pepper worker to be a crimper, but this failed to come to a solution.  I guess all the pepper crimping is done on an earlier shift and the product piles up waiting for our crew.  Crimping pepper may be a hazardous job, so they want to do it during late hours to reduce the chance of the Omniprod Safety inspector coming by and watching.
