Use the colour of the centre square of the face turned, followed by CW or CCW to describe your moves: for example, Blue CW, or Red CCW. If you feel a 180-degree rotation is needed, use CW2.

NOTE, the centres never move in relation to each other.

Now if only I could find my old cube, then we'd be talking about a solution!
