Line up (Posted on 2005-05-06) Difficulty: 4 of 5
Imagine a 3 dimensional grid with N x N x N points.
Place as many points as possible on this grid, such that there are no 3 points in a line (for N = 2, this is of course 8).
How much is it for N = 3, 4 or 5?

another way to look at it | Comment 13 of 16 |
notice n=2 is 8 n=3 is 16 n=4 is 24 n=5 is 40 and n=6 would be 64 the last 2 numbers are adding up so n=7 would be 104
