But if the bishop is a promoted pawn,doesn't that mean that it would have had to capture from B7, therefore the pawn there now still has to be white.

I cannot find any logic to determine the color of the two pieces in the leftmost column.  Based on the color ratio of the other pieces, I'd suggest that they must be, umm, white?
