You're right; I checked it out on the author's home page. Not only is the last four letters "BABE", but the full solution as you described it is:
"DAD BEDDED A BAD BAD BABE"
This is intentional by the author.
Also, since the author is a university Math Professor, I doubt it has anything to do with his personal SAT scores.
(The mistake in my logic was in ruling out answer "A" for question 18, which leaves the problem ambiguous if you don't already know the answer to question 20)
