Given a partition of a square into n triangles of equal area, prove that n is even.

Am I visualising your model as something like, say, a 4 x 4 grid of squares or rectangles which are each bisected by a diagonal, except one is to be trisected?

Is then you aim to then try to prove by contradiction that such a model is impossible?
