Rules of Hitori:

Delete numbers from the grid such that,
1) Digits must never appear more than once in each row or column,
2) A digit may not be deleted if it is horizontally or vertically next to a deleted digit,
3) The remaining digits must be connected vertically or horizontally to form a single shape.

Assign the rows and columns numbers so R1 be the first row and C2 be second column which means the 5 in 7th column and 3rd row would be defined as being in position C7R3. Then going through the rules you can delete certain numbers starting by looking at 5s in the 8th column:

- two of the three 5s in C8 need to be deleted these must be R1 and R3 (rule 2)
- two of the three 8s in R8 need to be delted one of these must be C8 (rule 2)
- C7R8 can’t be deleted so delete C7R7 (rule 2)
- C8R7 can't be deleted so delete C1R7 (rule 2)
- C8R4 can't be deleted so delete C6R4 (rule 2)
- C7R4 can't be deleted so delete C4R4 (rule 2)
- C1R8 can't be deleted so delete C1R1 (rule 2)
- C1R2 can't be deleted so delete C2R2 (rule 2)
- C6R8 can't be deleted because then C7R8 won’t be connected to another digit so delete C5R8 (rule 3)
- C1R3 can't be deleted because then C1R2 won’t be connected to another digit so delete C3R3 (rule 3)
- C2R8 can't be deleted because then C1R8 won’t be connected to another digit so delete C2R4 (rule 3)
- C1R5 can't be deleted because then C1R2,  C1R3, C1R4 and C2R3 won’t be connected to the other digits so delete C8R5 (rule 3)
- C3R5 can't be deleted because then C3R4 won’t be connected to the other digits so delete C3R6 (rule 3)
- C2R6  can't be deleted so delete C6R6 (rule 2)
- C5R5 can't be deleted because then the shap will be split into two so delete C5R1 (rule 3)
- C6R1 can’t be deleted so delete C6R2 (rule 2)
- C4R2 can't be deleted because then C2R1, C3R1, C4R1 and C3R2 won’t be connected to the other digits so delete C4R7 (rule 3)
