You take me without asking

What am I?

I still don't think 'memories' is correct here.  Memories can leave--and how are we certain that the person never wants these memories?  But, Pinky led me to another thought here.

 A fear is taken without knowlegde.  No one ever wants to have their fear (of strange things anyway).  A fear is found deep within one's subconscious--so where no one else can ever know unless you share it with them. You can certainly fuel your fear and it will never leave.
