It is a shadow, for it stalks (is behind) us, goes back when the sun arises (opposite side thing again), it counts the hours of the DAY only (sundial), you cannot hear it (duh!), cannot see it (now technically black is a lack of colour, not a colour itself. Therefore, technically speaking, you cannot see something that does not reflect light or produce light. Since black is not light but a lack of light, technically you cannot see something that is black, but you see the environment around the black object and hence infer that there is a black object there. This is particularly relevant as black objects are literally invisible in very low light conditions, whereas white objects may appear greyish in nature. Therefore, you cannot see a shadow.) The shadow appears only when light is existent, so it is awoken when the sun arises. It is always there, though it may not appear to exist in the absence of light. You can never run away from your shadow as trying to do so involves accelerating past the speed of light which naturally is impossible as that would increase your mass to infinite and F=ma, so when mass is infinite a is zero. So you can raise your speed to a tiny fraction below light speed but you can never actually hit light speed. Therefore you can never outrun a shadow. The shadow embraces us as we are enveloped by shadows cast by other objects as well as parts of our own body.
Pretty comprehensive huh. I think this is probably the correct answer.
