    I think it isn't a shadow. Shadows do not have one colour, they simply darken the colour they are on. They need not be stuck on the bottom either if the light source is underneath. They are also present in the rain. Unlikely.

Of course that could be the solution, but then there might be a few conceptual errors if it was, pardonable by the fact that it is after all a poem.
