The object of halves (Posted on 2006-05-03) Difficulty: 5 of 5
This is the hardest riddle I've ever created so far. If you can solve it I'd say you're really good. Here goes...

Half of a common germ,
Half of a yellow food.
Half of a longer month,
Half of a plane of wood.

This thing has two halves too,
One half as heavy as the other.
Tis' an object used to
Part one's life asunder.

What on earth am I talking about?

  • Ok... firstly, in response to the earlier post, germ refers to bacteria in this case. Not archaea, not eukaryotic microorganisms and not wheat germ.
  • Secondly, it is technically possible to split a letter in half. In one of the 4 clues that actually occurs.
  • Thirdly, splitting may not be within a word itself; a two-word object can be "split" into 2 words. I never did specify you have to split the word. This happens in another of the 4 clues.
  • Lastly, Dej Mar is VERY CLOSE. 2 out of the 4 clues to be halved is in his entry.
