What is the diameter of the largest unaltered coin which may be passed through the hole without tearing it?

(Consider the coin to be very thin, and the paper to be very flexible and tear resistant, but not at all stretchy.)

Good to see young Puzzlers having a go.
Unfortunately, the question asks for the diameter - so you need to work out the actual size of the largest coin that will fit through a 1  inch hole. It may be larger than 1 inch (using your suggestion) but how much larger?
Not so easy - but keep trying.
