A case of misguided sheep. (Posted on 2006-06-23) Difficulty: 3 of 5
I am a plateau, holding forty-two sheep.

The sheep are held in six sets of seven. The first, third, fourth, fifth and seventh sheep are black. The remaining two are white.

Someone using me to my full potential can even cause people to cry.

What am I?

This riddle should strike a chord with people with similar interests as me. I write this with plenty of strings attached.

What instrument? | Comment 20 of 22 |
Jack,
The immediately obvious thought is a piano, but the sequencing and number of keys was wrong (I checked out my accordion and bellows organ).

Pentatonic seemed a thought (I noted that at preposting) but could not see how to fit 2 white notes.

Considered as a xylophonic type instrument, where you can remove the unwanted notes, I can appreciate your description.

I assume "I write this with plenty of strings attached" refers to the extra strings that remain unused.

D5? Probably. D4 at minimum.  This has some very specialist knowledge.
