3D Engineering problem (Posted on 2006-08-02) Difficulty: 3 of 5
1. What 3D objects are represented by a pair of concentric circles in its plan (viewed from above) and a pair of concentric circles for its front elevation (vertical face)?

2. What would a #1 object be if it also has a side elevation that is concentric squares [with corner diagonals]?

Often we find that we can do something well.
Sometimes we overlook 'subleties' of those trained in such matters, or merely dismiss their importance.

This has occurred here.

Yes, hidden lines do have an importance.

I offer my apologies to Salil, the JM Forum and solvers in this.  I did assist Salil in the presentation of this, and I both overlooked and dismissed the importance of hidden lines.
