In a magazine recently there was a discussion about probability.
The author asserted that the probability of the event in question was approximately
(1 - 10-21)1025
How small is this number?

You can agree that as the power gets bigger the number gets smaller. What you are missing is how much bigger 10^25 is than 10^21.
Your examples only use small exponents.
