Let f be a one-to-one correspondence of the points in a plane. Prove or disprove the following statement:

"If f maps circles to circles, then it maps straight lines to straight lines."

Congratulations, Tristan,  that was some nice piece of geometric puzzling! I admit I had to do some circle-scribbling before getting my head around your post (especially the "But this is geometrically impossible"-statement), but it's a great proof.
