If 6 - 9 is sulfur and 5 - 4 gives you iron, what two elements are obtained from 9 - 1?

six(6, in words) - ix (9 as a roman numeral) = s= chemical symbol for sulpher

five(5, in words) - iv(5,  in roman numeral) = fe = chemical symbol for iron.

nine (9,  in words) - i(1,  in roman numeral) = n,ne,  where n = chemical symbol for nitrogen and ne= chemical symbol for neon.

Thus we obtain Nitrogen and Neon upon subtraction of i from nine.
