In the marathon, all the competing countries were from Africa, but not the usual runners, and maybe that caused all prognostics on the race results to be wrong:
1) Algeria will not win the gold, nor Botswana the silver.
2) Chad will win a medal, and Djibouti will not.
3) Djibouti and Egypt will both win medals.
4) Djibouti will not win the silver, nor Egypt the bronze.
5) Algeria will win a medal, and Chad will not.
Who won which of the medals?
Algeria won the gold
Djibouti won the silver
Chad won the bronze
Neither Botswana nor Egypt did receive any medals.
EXPLANATION:
From clue 1), it follows that at least one of Algeria and Botswana
got a medal.
From clues 3) and 4), it follows that either Djibouti or Egypt got a medal but not both.
If Djibouti gets a medal, it gets Silver
If Egypt gets a medal, it gets Bronze
From clue 2), it follows that if Chad gets a medal, Djibouti gets a
medal. Also, If Djibouti doesn't get a medal, Chad doesn't get a medal
From clue 5), it follows that if Algeria gets a medal, Chad gets a
medal and, if Chad doesn't get a medal, Algeria doesn't get a medal.
From clues 2) and 5) we observe that, if Algeria gets a medal, both Chad and Djibouti get medals as well. Also, if Djobouti doesn't get a medal, then neither Algeria nor Chad get any medals.
Since there are only three medals for five countries, it follows that precisely two countries did not receive any medals.
Accordingly, Djibouti got a medal.
Thus, Djibouti got Silver, and Egypt didn't get a medal.
Furthermore, since Botswana didn't get the silver, Algeria must have the Gold medal (from clue 1) ), and from clue 5) we can deduce that the last medal must have been awarded to Chad.
Consequently,
Algeria won the gold
Djibouti won the silver
Chad won the bronze
Neither Botswana nor Egypt did receive any medals.
