Thanks for the puzzle, Josie!  I've seen some "Japanese" puzzles with a similar twist, though not exactly like yours.

I notice that the puzzle says "No Solution Yet" even though two of us had posted solutions, and you have confirmed them.  How are we supposed to annotate a Comment if we are including a solution? Also, I am not sure how/when/where we put in a rating.  I'd agree with the "4" since I imagine the same format would usually be more difficult with even more rows and columns. (I did look up the original 2006 posting which had a slightly smaller grid than the current one.)
