ABCD (2) (Posted on 2008-03-07) Difficulty: 3 of 5
Place one of the four letters A, B, C or D in each of the blue-coloured cells. No letter can be horizontally or vertically adjacent to itself. The yellow-coloured tables above and to the left of the grid indicate how many times each letter appears in that column or row.

This is an extended version of ABCD.

Hi ed,

You say "I'd agree with the "4" since I imagine the same format would usually be more difficult with even more rows and columns."

This indicates that you think the rating means the degree of difficulty. In fact the rating means your opinion of the puzzle. 1=horrible and 5=excellent.

I can understand this! When I first became a member of Perplexus, I thought rating was "degree of difficulty". I solved a puzzle, which I thought was quite easy and gave it a "2" rating. When I realised I felt really bad about it!

Brianjn has addressed your other queries, so I won't repeat him!

Best wishes,

Josie
