White as snow or a multicolored hue.
Floating around or stuck to one's shoe.
Flying true, or falling slow,
unknown directions that are easily shown.
Silent and light,
and causes no fright.
Just a bit of wind,
and I go flying with a friend.
Alone I am not much,
but with many a soft touch.
Gathered with friends at night,
I may not be heard.
but my host during light,
you will hear, most assured.

i think it's probably soul. I took stuck to one's shoe to mean the sole of one's shoe, and it seems to fit with other bits. Souls can be thought of and described many different ways so the riddle fits.
