A man parked in a supermarket car park and walked towards the shop. On his way he noticed something wrong with the numbering of the individual spaces.
Neighbouring spaces had the numbers 88, 68, 06 and 16 painted on the floor next to them, when they should have been consecutive numbers. Why was this?
Obviously 88, 68, 06 and 16 are not consecutive numbers. Checking te orientation of each, we observe that when viewed upside down, the numbers are as follows:
Number Viewed Upside down
88 88
68 89
06 90
16 91
It is trivial to observe from the foregoing that the consecutive numbers 88,89,90,91 turned upside down indeed becomes the four numbers as stated in the problem text.
Consequently, the man was looking at the space numbers upside down.
