A
5 + B
5 + C
5 + D
5 + E
5 = ABCDE
where each separate letter represents a different digit and A is not zero.
What is ABCDE?

You bring up a good point, in my solution I assumed that this was a alphametic solution but on second look it is not stated that it is in the problem description although I could argue it is implied by the formating of the equation by ave ABCDE instead of A*B*C*D*E. If not viewed as an alphametic equation then I agree there can not be an solutions other than the trivial all zeros which is excluded by not allowing A=0.
