A man is trapped in a room far away from home There is a door with a keyhole, but it is locked. He does not feel an immediate need to escape as help is on the way and he will be free within the next 24 hours.
In the room there is:
Using wordplay, how does he eat and drink (in this order) in the interim?
Note: This riddle allows the use of homophones and different meanings of words. For example, if somewhere along the way you get the word "pear", you're allowed switching it to the word "pair" because they're homophones. Also, if you get the word "note", you're allowed to switch the meaning from something to help you remember to a musical note, or vice versa.

Pure Piers Anthony! In addition, he could keep the flame burning for a while until it got old, then introduce the old flame to April, May and June, thereby creating an explosive situation that he could use to blow up the door and so escape.
