Planet Life (Posted on 2013-05-07) Difficulty: 2 of 5
On a distant planet, there are four forms of life: zadohs, pugwigs, kahoots, and zingzangs. All zadohs are pugwigs. Some pugwigs are kahoots. All kahoots are zingzangs.

Which of these statements must then be true.
1. Some zadohs are zingzangs.
2. Some kahoots are zadohs.
3. All kahoots are pugwigs.
4. Some zingzangs are pugwigs.
5. All zingzangs are zadohs.
6. Some zadohs are kahoots.

Solution Set Theory (spoiler) | Comment 1 of 2
I solved this using a Venn diagram, but I can't draw one one perplexus, so:

Let Zadoh = {1}
Let Pugwigs = {1,2}
Let Kahoots = Zingzangs = {2,3}

This is consistent with our premises, and clearly only statement (4) is true.
