Side Length Settlement (Posted on 2014-05-18) Difficulty: 3 of 5
Consider a rectangular piece of paper ABCD, with AB = √2 and AD = 1. The rectangle is folded so that:
  • B coincides with the point X on CD and:
  • The resulting crease is AY which passes through the corner A.
Determine the length of the three sides of the triangle DXY.

Will publish path when I get more time:

DX=length 1

DY = length SQRT(5-2*SQRT(2))

XY = length SQRT(6-4*SQRT(2))

These match Charlie's sketchpad solution.
