For what number of non-overlapping unit squares can a figure be formed whose perimeter is numerically equal to the area?

Indeed, I was assuming that new squares had to be flush with the others and meet at the corners.  If we offset them then odd solutions are possible.  At least, I found one:

I have to run and won't get back to this until tomorrow but I'll try to come up with a general method tomorrow if no one beats me to it.
