9-letter word (Posted on 2015-09-25) Difficulty: 5 of 5
There is only one word in the English language , replacing the ? sign in the alphametic

seventeen + seventeen = ?

to make it uniquely solvable.

Find this word.

Some Thoughts re(2): computer solutions | Comment 5 of 6 |
(In reply to re: computer solutions by Ady TZIDON)

Assuming the nine words (ANTIGENIC, BETRAYERS, DEGRADERS,
FREEWHEEL, INSNARING, JEWELWEED, REASTIEST, YEASTIEST, WATERWEED) are the only solutions to the alphametic, the answer that makes the puzzle most uniquely solvable is FREEWHEEL.
All the other words leave at least one digit unmatched to an alphabetic letter, thus allowing a number of possibilities for a full solution for all digits, 0 to 9.

(ANTIGENIC is the only solution, given these words, where all the alphametic values for SEVENTEEN are non-zero.)
