Consider a hollow
right circular cone having radius 20 and height 16.
Find the maximum possible area of the square that can lie inside the cone.
After playing with this all morning -- I even made a paper model -- I can't see a way of making a larger square than the one that lies flat on the circular base.
The area of this square is 800.
Perhaps a taller cone would give a more interesting solution.
