Planks across a ditch (Posted on 2017-08-17) Difficulty: 4 of 5
Consider an L-shaped ditch with straight sides and both legs of the same uniform width.

Part 1: How wide a ditch can be bridged with two 10 foot planks?

Part 2: How wide a ditch can be bridged with three 10 foot planks?

Note: consider the planks to be rigid line segments - very thin yet strong.

Intentions of the problem as d4 Comment 4 of 4 |
Kenny and Steve have ideas that sort of work.  They are creative but unless the planks are stuck together you wouldn't get much more than an ant to cross.

Larry has the idea.  The calculations are pretty rough hence I called it d4.  It's almost d5 but I figured if I could do it some of you plexusers would find it easier.
