A: "I remember that on a certain day in Winter both Celsius and Fahrenheit temperature readings showed the digit 5 as the units digit..."

B(after some mental calculation): "I'm certain it was not the coldest day..."

The first sentence in the Wikipedia article Winter states

Winter is the coldest season of the year in polar and temperate climates (winter does not occur in tropical climates).

As far as the puzzle goes, the title implies that the dialog occurred in Manitoba, Canada.
