Boxed Parabolas (Posted on 2018-03-24) Difficulty: 2 of 5
Two parabolas intersect at two points. The four tangent lines at their points of intersection form a 3 * 4 rectangle. Find the area of the closed region created by both parabolas.

Archimedes proved the area of a parabolic section is 2/3 of the triangle that encloses it.  

The 3*4 rectangle is just two such triangles.

2/3 of 12 is 8.
