You could help by solving the alphametic:
PEEVE*PET=WEATHER
P must be less than 4 to give a 7-digit product.
The last digit of E*T is R so E isn't 0 or 1 as that results in E=R. But (P,E)=(3,2) is already too big as it gives an 8-digit result so P=1 or 2.
I then listed possible values of (E,T) for a given R. There are surprisingly few, only around 20. Next I built an excel page where I could input (P,E,T), let V vary over all digits, and check the product.
I found a single solution: 25575*258=6598350.
