Judging by the title "beyond base 10" I'm sure Daniel had in mind extending the puzzle to bases higher than ten, such as the following computer-generated cases:
base the two digits
5 3 3
10 3 6
15 3 9
20 3 12
23 4 4
25 3 15
The only assurance needed is that the base is at least one higher than either of the digits.
