What is the largest known number of possible moves in any chess position that a player can make at any single turn?
(In reply to
even more moves are possible by Steven Lord)
A solution for a position of 218 moves possible moves exists.
(Credit for the solution may belong to the chess problemist Nenad Petrović. Allegedly the problem was published in 1946 in the Fairy Chess Review).
