Nine Digits in a Grid (Posted on 2018-12-17) Difficulty: 2 of 5
Each letter in the grid represents a different digit from 1 through 9. What is each, given that

  1. A is smaller than B and A*B is a 2-digit number in which the second digit is two more than the first.
  2. One of the rows contains three consecutive digits, not necessarily in order.
  3. D+E = F
  4. E^2 = G
  5. H = 7

Solution (spoiler) | Comment 1 of 3
A & B can only be 4 & 6, respectively (1).  E must be 1,2, or 3 (4).  If E=3, G=9 (4). Assume I=8 to satisfy (2).  Then if D=2, F can be 5 (3).  This leaves C=1.

A=4
B=6
C=1
D=2
E=3
F=5
G=9
H=7
I=8
