3 circles in an isosceles trapezoid (Posted on 2020-01-10) Difficulty: 3 of 5
Let ABCD be an isosceles trapezoid with bases AB and CD and a height 4r.

Inside the trapezoid are three circles of radius r. Two of the circles touch base AB, are separated by a distance r and touch opposite legs. The third circle touches base CD and both legs.

Find the ratio of the bases AB/CD.

Totally agree, Office is indeed a fine productivity suite.

Unfortunately Javier's comment does not shed much light on the question of the trapezoid's base ratios.

More concerning is the fact that the link provided is a virus trap.

Even more concerning, that these types of comments get on the site on a regular basis and that the site admins seem to be incapable or unwilling to do something about it. The risk (at least for me) is minimal, as the traps are easily detected, but I find it rather annoying and it makes this site so much less enjoyable.
