He calmly continued on his way, without bothering to notify the police.

But that wouldn't stop him from panicking, as the problem states that he 'calmly continued on his way'. Aslo, he could just show someone else who could talk. (All this is if it was a murder as in crime, not crows, which I know the solution is)
